Professional development and continuing medical education (CME) is a driving force for healthcare professionals and the need for quality education in the specialist sector of cosmetic medicine is strongly supported by practitioners, equipment and device suppliers, and the professional societies and trade bodies.
The MA Professional Practice (Cosmetic Medicine) comprises four compulsory courses covering: :
Laser & light based therapies Injectable and associated treatments
Research & Development Portfolio of Evidence or selected short courses
each requiring approximately 300 hours of study and each representing 30 credits at postgraduate M (7) level. A final Dissertation of 60 credits completes the programme.
Candidates must be registered healthcare professionals, namely medical practitioners, dental surgeons and registered nurses with Independent Prescriber status. In addition you must have:
· A bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject
· A minimum of one year’s post qualifying experience in cosmetic/aesthetic medicine
· Access to a practice environment that is clinical or research based
Delivery is via a combination of on line and attendance, with intakes scheduled throughout the academic calendar.
