Dr Raymond Brown is a qualified teacher, holds professional qualifications in Health
and Safety and is a Certificated Laser Protection Adviser (RPA2000 Certificate of
Competence in Radiation Protection Practice) and is a full Member of the Society
for Radiological Protection.
Elizabeth has been involved in laser education since the mid 1980’s starting her
academic career at The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Loughborough University
as a lecturer in laser safety. She went on to Loughborough College as Head of Lasers
and whilst there authored the original BTEC qualifications in medical and industrial
The medical and aesthetic BTEC qualifications have been completely re-written and
updated in line with current technology and in the light of developments in treatment
modalities. These BTEC qualifications are available exclusively from LCS Academy
and quality assured by Edexcel.
Elizabeth is also a tutor and assessor for courses within the MA Professional Practice
(Cosmetic Medicine) that has been developed in conjunction with the University of
Elizabeth is on the Editorial Panel of Body Language, the UK Journal of Medical Aesthetics
and Anti-Ageing and is very pleased to be associated with this journal.
In 2004 Elizabeth authored the HABIA booklet ‘Safe Use of Laser and Intense Pulsed
Light Equipment’ and has published papers on safety compliance and design of educational
